Stem-cell Scandal
This is clearly depicted in a recent Korean case. A foremost professor in medicine, Professor Woo Suk Hwang who was found to fabricate stem-cell test results, showed us just that.
Many had not only been disappointed; they had been deceived.
For some time, falsehood was glorified and honored. But the truth prevailed, and in place of honor and fame came disrepute and shame.
Fortunately, nothing monstrous came out of Hwang's lab. Nevertheless, his behavior has certainly not done justice to the scientific world.
Will the scientific world learn from this episode of a fallen "expert"?
Most probably not!
Will cures ever be found for the incurable?
Unlikely! Permanent cures are as evasive as--if not more evasive than--tax-dodgers. Even if they were found, they are no good to those who refuse to live right. These people are only fooling themselves.
There is another way to constantly having to find "cures" for often-times-self-made diseases, though.
